The Advisory Board for Rehabilitation, appointed by the Council of
State, is responsible for co-operation in questions concerning
rehabilitation on the national level. Its task is to steer, develop
and co-ordinate the co-operation between the authorities,
communities and institutions responsible for rehabilitation as well
as direct the activities of the regional co-operational committees
for rehabilitation services. Represented in the Delegation are the
Ministry of Social Affairs and Health, The Ministry of Labour, the
Ministry of Education, the National Research and Development Centre
for Welfare and Health (Stakes), the State Treasury, the Social
Insurance Institution, the Association of Finnish Local and Regional
Authorities, the disability organisations, the employee pension
insurance, the accidents and motor third party liability insurance
and the labour market interest groups.
The Delegation is appointed for a four years period. Central
matters during the term will be:
- The position of the rehabilitation client
- Regional an local co-operation in rehabilitation
- Preparation of the rehabilitation report to the Parliament
- Rehabilitation research and the effectiveness of
rehabilitation
- Employment opportunities for people with disablities
- Rehabilitation within mental health care and care for
intoxicant abusers
- Rehabilitation for the aged population
- Use and development of measures for functional ability
- Rehabilitation within special health care
- The availability of technical aids
- International experiences and information about
rehabilitation on other countries
- The Delegation set the following three divisions for
preparation and implementation: the division for preparing the
rehabilitation report, the research division and the work life
division. In addition to that the
- Delegation has set an expert group for rehabilition within
mental care.
